Easter Festivities

Here is the rundown of our weekend...
IMG_3572

It started off with our first soccer games of the season. Of course it was freezing and raining.
Eden's was first at 11am.

Maya's  game was at 1pm, the rain had stopped but it was still cold.

By 4pm it was actually pretty nice outside. Which made it perfect for our Easter egg hunt that we had in my sister's backyard.
Here is a picture of the crew before they took off for the hunt.

These are my favorite pictures of the egg hunting.

We had some pizza courtesy of Pizza Hut and then some Ten Commandments courtesy of abc.  That show is like 20 hours long so only a third of it was actually watched.
Then back home to make some preparations for the feast that was going to take place on the morrow.
This is a picture of the girls and Camden with their movies that they got in their Easter baskets.

And here are the dreaded Easter pics...
IMG_3587
My hair looked way better before church but Aric wasn't around for pre-church pictures due to church responsibilities so we had to wait until after. It was cold, the girls were complaining and I wasn't in the mood for a fight, so this was the best of three.  Everyone matched and that's what really counts right?....
IMG_3578
Speaking of matching...I found the girls navy/white polka dot dresses at the Gap when I was in Utah repo-ing my car. They were only $11 a piece! The only problem was that they had some funky gold, old lady buttons and they needed a pop of color. So for seven bucks I got some fuscia buttons and satin fabric. They had sandals that already matched so that was easy.

Camden had khaki's so I bought him a navy/white plaid tie for $3.50 and a white shirt for $5.50 at The Children's Place.  They always have the best deals!
IMG_3590
And then Aric already had the suit so I found his navy/white polka dot tie at Macy's for...get this...FIVE DOLLARS! I had a coupon, used my Macy's card and went during the door buster sale.
My dress is about three years old and shorter than I remember it. I usually hand wash it but I sent it to the cleaners and I swear that it shrunk! Oh well...I found a fuscia scarf and called it good. I just made a conscious effort to bend at the knee all day.
~
We had a great feast that I was too busy making to take pictures of , but trust me it was GOOD! We had mom and Joe, the Stockies, the Sampsons and my Grandpa Bob over to eat.
Having my Grandpa here was a fun surprise.
IMG_3598
We don't get to see him very often so it was good to spend time with him. He hadn't met Max or Camden so it was fun for them to meet their great-grandpa.

After dinner Maya and Eden had prepared a lesson on the symbols of Easter. They had been working on it for weeks and they did a great job.
So that's about it. That was our Easter weekend. Now I must go and finish putting my house back together...I was too tired to do it last night.

Soccer Update

Remember this blog has to contain things of interest to my posterity and so the soccer updates must be included.

Our Saturday started with a 9 am game...can you say freezing!  No picture of me braving the cold in my winter boots and  two layers of long sleeve shirts underneath my down coat. I also sported a knit cap and gloves while snuggled up in my warm blanket under my giant beach umbrella.  All so I could watch may girls play soccer.  Highlights of Maya's game.

IMG_1406

This is Maya's  first year playing with goalies.  She isn't that aggressive so she doesn't score very many goals.  She is definitely a defensive kind of girl.  She takes protecting her goal very seriously.   She is awesome at it.

Then at our 11 am game the weather cooperated a little bit better. No rain but still quite chilly. I stayed cozy warm in my aforementioned get up minus the umbrella this time.  It was worth every shiver to watch Eden score SIX goals!

The beginning of the game she wasn't challenging the ball at all.  She was an observer on the field.  We gave her a pep talk (Aric said she could eat unless she scored a goal...I joke) And then that kid was on fire! She couldn't be stopped.

Here's a couple of the goals.

Here she is all over that ball.

And she breaks away...

Her coach congratulating her.

IMG_1420

She is very modest about her goals.  She gets a little embarrassed by all the fans screaming for her.

IMG_1415

YAY! Eden finally gets the game...it only took half the season but that's okay!  We are so excited for her!

And yes there are way more pictures of Eden because I was freezing at Maya's game.  I'll be better this week about being more equal.

Soccer Season...I'm lovin' it!

We have strict rule in our family...only one activity/sport at a time...exception...piano.  Maya has played for a couple of years now. Her first season wasn't so great, she totally didn't understand why her friends were kicking her.  But now she loves it! Eden has grown up going to Maya's games and she has wanted to play but she loved to dance more.  So in the past she has chosen dance. But this year she decided to give up dancing  (in the studio...not at home) and take up soccer.  She is awesome and I am so glad she gave it a chance.

I have to give up my Saturdays for eight weeks but that's okay. Because I get to watch this instead...

Eden's first goal!!!!!

Here she is walking back towards her fans feeling pretty proud of herself.

I love this picture of Aric giving Eden some advice and congratulating her on her first goal.

Maya's first time playing goalie...she was AWESOME!  She had three amazing saves....

September 2008 026

September 2008 024 I was so proud of her.  She used to be afraid of the ball...now she is throwing herself in front of it!  She took a pretty good hit to the chest and didn't even flinch.  She was so excited because the coach was praising her goalie skills.  All the girls had a chance to play goalie but Maya was the best by far!

I love this picture because it totally captures our Soccer Saturday's...

September 2008 023

And yes...those are Eden's glasses.  My sleezy (don't be alarmed we use that word in a loving way) sister in law Sarah got Maya and Eden each a pair to match hers.  They wear them everywhere.  Edee got lots of comments on hers that day.  I call her J-Lo whenever she wears them.

Even on the soccer field we do not sacrifice fashion for sport.  All soccer divas know this.

Here's to a fabulous fall soccer season!
