Dressin' Up For the Holidays

So what do you do when you want to get holiday attire for the whole family but you just spent all of your savings and then some to adopt your precious baby?

Well I will tell you what you do...You wear yourself out shopping the clearance aisles at your favorite stores so you can find these treasures....

For Eden and Maya

I got Eden's dress (fake velvet and satin) on sale at Target for $12.99. I got Maya's sweater and velvet skirt at Children's Place. (She already had the black turtleneck.) The sweater I got for $7 (it didn't have beading on the neck so it was even cheaper than sale price) and her skirt on sale with a coupon was also $7. Eden picked out the hair clips for $1 at Claires. So the grand total for the girls....around 28 bucks.

For Camden

I got this little outfit for $6.50 and the shoes for $2.00 at the Children's Place. The best part was that I had a gift card I had gotten as a baby shower gift so it technically cost me nothing.

For Aric

He already had the sweater so I got him a very cool tie at TJ Maxx for $12.99.

Now for yours truly...

I couldn't find ANYTHING! I had pretty much given up and decided that I would just wear my holiday outfit from the past...oh...like...four years....

You can't see it very well, but it's a black dress with a gray/silver sweater. It is actually a very cute, classic outfit. The problem is the dress has been snagged one too many times.

Well, I just about gave up on my quest for a budget friendly holiday outfit. I was standing in the check out line at TJ Maxx when I saw, out of the corner of my eye, a black EXPRESS skirt (hanging in the wrong spot), the size on the hanger said a size that I don't think I was ever small enough to wear. So at first I ignored it. Then I remembered I was at TJ Maxx, where things are usually not the size they claim to be...there's a reason things end up at that store...anyway, after looking at it more closely I thought it looked way bigger than the size it claimed to be. And on top of that it was only $7.99! So I bought it.

I brought it home and put an outfit together....the outfit I will probably be wearing for the next five years.

The shirt was an end of season find I got last April at Old Navy for $6.oo. The red satin sash, also an Old Navy find last year, it was in a clearance bin for $1. My nylons a Macy's clearance find a couple of years ago, $2. And my fabulous shoes....also Old Navy Online clearance for $10. They are so cute they need an up close shot...

So there you have it, our Holiday Outfits on a budget (under 5o bucks for the entire family!).

That's my girl! You all look gorgeous. Camden doesn't look very happy, but sure looks cute. I saw that outfit at The Children's Place, but it was way more expensive. I'm glad I didn't get it. Not to worry Camden, abuelita is bringing has a couple new church outfits on the way. Papa Joe picked one out. A first. :)

I was thrilled to get your card. I am so excited for your family and the new arrival. What a fantastic Christmas present!!!!

I always thought you dressed classy and dressed the girls so cute. TJ Maxx is my sister-in-laws favorite store. Infact we have the home store with it, do you? They have fabulous stuff for home decorating at a fraction of the cost. Better than ROSS.

Check in with us sometime.

I don't know you and you don't know me...I was on someone else's blog and somehow ended up on yours. So I looked and read... I just wanted to say how much I like your family's Christmas traditions.
I like the mix of whimsy, humor and meaningful.
Like your TJ Maxx skirt, I'm glad your blog was in the "wrong place".
(Maybe I'm the skirt...??)
At any rate, thanks for sharing a part of your family with me. They are beautiful.
Oh and Go Red Sox!
