The adult race was earlier in the morning. I tried to run it with Jessica, but she smoked me. I was able to keep up for about a mile but then decided it was supposed to be "fun run" so I pulled back.
It was only four miles, but about a mile of it was up hill. I was just so happy that my knee didn't start hurting again.
Later on was the kid race. These were some of the hooligans they let enter the race.
Eden ran first. Her group ran a quarter of a mile. The picture of Jane and Eden stretching made it into the paper.
Run. Eden. Run!
I'm not sure what she was more excited about, the snacks or the ribbon.
Right after Eden's race was Maya's. Her group ran half a mile.
The last part was up hill. Maya said she knew she couldn't catch up with the kids that had past her so she was just making sure that no one else would pass her at the end.
Camden came along to support his sisters. He most enjoyed sucking on apples.
It was a fun way to spend Saturday morning. The girls especially had a great time. They had been counting down the days until the race. Eden was mostly worried about what she would do if she had to go to the bathroom. The bathrooms they had set up were port-a-potties. Thankfully she was able to handle it and we didn't have to use one of those icky things. Well that does it for our race coverage. We can't wait to do it again next year.

I'm with Eden. The only reason I would probably run a race is the promise of food at the end.
the 1/4 mile would have made me puke, but i would have barfed right in front of everyone because there is no way I am going in a honey bucket. I am more of an apple sucker like Camden, now that is true support.
rock it! i love how you got the kids involved. i wish more people would do stuff like this.
That looks so fun! I can't imagine doing anything but swimming outside right now. it's miserable. A summer outdoors running races sounds glorious!
Do you have any of those net teething things that you put fruit in? I'm sure that you do but they are great!

Way to go GIRLS! What a fun thing you can all do together. That's cool that picture made it in the paper!
I love the pic of Camden going to town on those apples. Way to go, runners.
I need to stop being a brat about running... it sounds like fun. Next year...
Aidan totally understands Edee's fear of port a potties. He always comments how the construction workers have to use the "smelly potties" They do smell!
i love when they have running events that include the children! i remember one of my triathlons had a mini tri for the kids at the end! they always loved those and it's so fun to see the kids get involved!
way to go all of you!
You jessicas are awesome. I wish I could run with you but I'm sure you would both smoke me. Love the little kiddie runs too. Someday I want my kids to do those too.
That loop run is something else. I try to avoid it at all costs! Fun to see that your girls have caught the running bug just like their mom.
You and Jessica are amazing!! That is so neat.
I love that the picture of Jane and Eden made it into the paper!! So fun ☺.
