Eden turned Eight

Eden wanted to go to IHOP for breakfast instead of going out for dinner.

Eden wanted a camping themed birthday party this year. I hate camping but I thought it would be a fun theme. I had grand plans of a tent shaped birthday cake and super cute invitations but life got a little nuts when Aric informed me that we were having all of the carpet replaced a four days before the party. Thankfully Eden's expectations were not as lofty as mine.

She thought the lame invitations were cool...

She had no idea how awesome the tent cake was in my mind, she thought these sleeping bag cupcakes were awesome...

She had a blast playing Chubby Bunny with her friends...

Making s'mores...

Getting her face painted...

Having three legged races...

And opening her gifts, of course...

Summer birthday parties are tricky because so many people take off for vacations. Last year we only had five girls able to make it. This year we had ten! We sang camp songs and made camp t-shirts, I channeled my old camp counselor days, it was awesome. I couldn't have pulled it off without Maya and two of her friends helping me run the show and my sister helping out with Camden. The party was a success!

That night she got to open her gifts from us...

Thank you Target for having American Girl knock off stuff on clearance last month!

I'm a big dreamer too-its a good thing they can't read our minds or they might be disappointed. Looked like she an the best birthday ever! Happy Birthday to Eden!

I totally get what you are saying...I have grandiose ideas that are impossible...but I think that those invitations are DARLING and I think the cupcakes are, too! It looks like it was a great party.

Happy, Happy Birthday to your adorable Eden ☺.
