Take That Sixth Grade!

Last August I was freaking out that Maya was starting sixth grade. I had flash backs of my middle school days and it scared me to death that my baby girl was being thrown into the lion's den. All of my worries were unfounded. Maya didn't just get through her first year of middle school...she ROCKED it!

She was nominated as Student of the month earlier in the year...

Her first year playing violin and she was second chair by the third trimester!

My super shy girl joined an intramural soccer team and showed those boys who was boss!

Her soccer besties...

I was able to go on a field trip with her to a tree farm in Idaho...zzzzzz...whoops, I fell asleep just remember the longest day ever! Goes to show how much I love this kid. This field trip was during the last two weeks when we were getting ready to move but I knew she needed some quality time with her mamma. She hung out with me the whole time, even ate lunch with me instead of her friends, made me feel pretty awesome :)

In case you were wondering...in this next picture we are standing in front of one million seedlings.

Here she is with a couple of her buddies Bryn and Taylor...

We couldn't resist a close up together on the bus...can you see how tired I am!?

Maya was a great student all year long. She rarely procrastinated on her work except for this little project...

These past six months have been tough on all of us, but despite all the emotional stress she managed to be on the honor roll all year and made it into the Junior National Honor Society!

Holland, Maya and Elsa
Oh where these girls have been together the past six years...

I could not be anymore proud of my kid! She has made her weaknesses her strengths in such a short amount of time. It took a lot of hard work and faith on her part. She prayed everyday for help to remember and understand math. She had an amazing teacher which helped a ton too. I'm starting to feel stressed about seventh grade, only because of our crazy life situation right now but Maya has proven that she can handle way more than I give her credit for. Oh how I love this girl!

Ah, 7th grade. Can't we just close our eyes until it's over? Scares me to DEATH, but I lived, so I suppose Jane will, too.

She is such an amazing young lady. She has done such an outstanding job.

Student of the month is such a big deal. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

I love your hat and coat in the Student of the Month picture with you.

It is so wild to me that you are on a field trip at the end of the year and you are wearing jackets. We were suffering from heat stroke on field day ;).

You and Maya are both beautiful. And way to show the boys who is boss on the field, Maya!
